Taking care of your Wellies
Consistent wellington boot care is the best way to keep your boots in good condition all year round.
Some Helpful Information
Use Rubber Spray
Silicone spray works great for rubber wellies. All you need to do is to spray the silicone all over the exterior and buff it with a clean cloth. This will help to keep your boot’s signature suppleness and flexibility. The silicone spray helps protect your boots from ingrained dirt and other foreign matter keeping them looking fresh. Use a rubber conditioner after frequent use or every couple months during the off season. The conditioner should be applied liberally with a soft cloth on clean, dry boots. Wipe away excess and allow the boots to dry overnight.
Washing your Wellies
To wash your wellies inside, make a cleaning solution with some water and a little dishwashing liquid (remember to avoid harsh detergents). Dip a cloth rag in the solution and rub the inside of your wellies. Use another rag to wipe off the solution when you have finished cleaning. Let your wellies dry naturally.
Storing your Wellies
Although rubber is known to crack after long periods of time, you can delay this by storing your wellies correctly. To keep your boots fresh, keep them upright in a cool, dry area out of direct sunlight as far as possible. Consider keeping them out of direct sunlight as far as possible as this can cause the rubber to become brittle and deteriorate.
The longevity of your wellington boots depends on the design, and how long you wear them. Typically, wellington boots last anywhere between 6 months and two years.
